It’s a brisk, crisp morning, but it promises sun and beautiful riding weather for our motorcycle journey south. We plan to get to Mom’s today, then Tampa tomorrow. I’m supposed to help this dude in Tampa fix his Mac(s), but he sounds a bit recalcitrant — spending $900 on a used, old G4 in order to run OS 9 rather than spending less to buy a newer, better Mac Mini. For some reason, he does not want to run OS X, yet. We was quite adamant when I spoke with him yesterday. I’m thinking that I won’t be able to do much to help, since I haven’t touched Classic in literally years. We’ll see.
I am looking forward to the ride; I just hope the weather remains cooperative. It’s supposed to rain on Tuesday, and get cooler, later in the week. We should be leaving Tampa on Wednesday to head back to Mom’s, before a Thursday ride back to Macon. We want to get back early so we can rest for a couple of days before we have to get back to classes. I head to San Francisco next week for CCCC, so I have to put the finishing touches on my paper this coming weekend. I’ll get to see my buddy Matt, whom I haven’t seen in years. He’ll be turning 35 while I’m there. I remember Matt best as a bright 17-year-old who introduced me to the Mac in 1984. We’re all getting old too quickly. We were just in high school last week.
Of course, I’m insomniac this morning, so the ride might get fatiguing before we even get to the Florida border. I’m worried about the cold, too. Perhaps this is another symptom of my age. Despite my apprehension, I’m looking forward to being back on the bike again. I’ll get to see Phil on Monday evening. We might even have some time to check out the Lakeland campus of USF. More on that later.
I’m going to start packing and finish the rest of my coffee.
Sweetpea…are you having an I-feel-old-day? Nonsense. I won’t let that happen to you! Looking forward to hopping on the bike and zipping away — I’m ready to begin another journey.
P.S. I am with you on the insomniac front — for some reason, I wasn’t able to feel sleepy last night, and kept thinking of things to do, or things to pack, so I got about four hours of shut-eye. Even so, I’m bright-eyed and ready to go…for now, at least. Hehe.
I hope you guys have a blast! I can’t wait to hear about it and see pictures. Are you ganna be able to meet up with Kelly while you’re in Tampa?? That would be so awesome.
Ya’ll be safe and have fun… rain or shine I know you’ll be fine.
Lmao… you carck me up girl. Yes, UTSA is indeedn the University of Texas at San Antonio. You’re so smart!
I’m soo glad to hear that ya’ll had fun on your trip! Did you get any pics?? Hook a girl up!
*Love Hugs!*
Maybe I should do spell check before I post again, lol. My bad!
Nah — I derive more joy from “carcking” people up — cracking is so overrated.
Sadly, I do not have any pics from the night Kelly and I met up, because my honey left the camera in the car, lol. But, we do have a few great shots from our trip that we’ll be posting soon.
