and let the wedding planning begin! Oh yes, it is official now — the bridal bug has bitten, and I am off and running with wedding ideas. I couldn’t be happier that J. and I have the pleasure of a long engagement, especially as we are exposed to the many levels of involvement in an event such as this. My main concern: *Keep it fun*. I do not want to remember our special day as our stressful day.

I do realize that some sort of friction is impossible to avoid, but the less, the better. I am convinced that Jerry and I can simplify this occasion by trading in the traditions that seem empty to us for bits of informal creativity that will make the entire process more fun for everyone involved, guests definitely included. Few things are even close to being set in stone, but I will certainly spill details here and there along the way, just as we dream them up and figure them out. As for now, please stamp this date in your calendars, and reserve May 20, 2006, for us!

I’m with you, babe. I just hope that others will remember and accept your approach. I’ll be here for whatever you need me to do, and I’ll always do it with a smile.

–And that, my darling, is one of the many reasons why I want to marry you. XO
