I made it through my first week of nursing school, and it was an incredibly busy one. But, that’s my new, busier life — and I’m considering adding more on top of my class and lab schedule. Fun stuff like a Pilates class, an early morning Stretch and Relax class, and I still haven’t given up on taking dance lessons with J — cool styles, of course. None of this electric slide and line dancing stuff. Ick.

I feel so official — I now own a pristine white lab coat, scrubs, a fashionable seafoam green stethscope, a blood pressure cuff, a nursing badge ID, penlight, bandage scissors, and a whole bag of equipment I haven’t even opened…though I did notice a few catheter kits. Surely we won’t be using those anytime soon — I’m still getting used to positioning a stethoscope, no need to hurry into needle use. ;-)

I’m not the only one with a nutty schedule, since J has a full load, as well, but unfortunately it’s quite the opposite of mine. He teaches nights, and I have full-day classes…not a good formula for seeing much of each other. At least we have a shared Friday off, and the sweet weekends. This weekend we saw Bellyfat play at the Rookery, leaving me with a smoky cough the next day and memories of a really fun show. Several of our friends merged to form Bellyfat, and the thinner-than-you’d-expect band has that laid-back, here for a good time appeal. They played a nice mix of originals and covers, ranging from the Allman Brothers to Cake and Weezer, which made for a great evening/night/early morning. As for the rest of the weekend, I’ve been lazy, and I love it. I did log a few hours studying, and some wonderful time on the bike, but mostly, we’ve been chilling. Now I’m glued to the Weather Channel, tracking Hurricane Katrina, and crikey, she’s a big one. Best of luck to those in her path…

    Oh, yeah, dancing. Yippee.

You should post a picture or two of yourself looking all nursely.

    Yeah, Bellyfat!
