Thanks to Jerry, who told me about this great site just in time for my dual class presentations today! Slide Share is a nifty little free service that lets you upload PowerPoint presentations online. You can make them public or private, tag them with information for organization, and have easy access to your uploads from any computer.

This convenient site really saved me today – I had two beautiful Keynote presentations on the iPad, just waiting to be connected & shared with the class. However, the connecting part was easier said than done. Luckily, I had both presentations stored on Slide Share, and my plan B worked just fine. Success!

all two weeks of it! Yes, summer semester is over as of tonight’s Biology final (whoo!) and yes, it nearly ran right into fall semester. However, I plan to squeeze plenty of relaxation & pool time into the few days I have. Best of all, I am taking a week off work to enjoy my time to the fullest. A few things on my list: organize the house a bit, frequent bike rides with the hubby, poolside sunbathing, catch a Pinetoppers game, hopefully a Blue Indian variety show Downtown, read books on my Kindle & enjoy some of the cool finds from our trip to Atlanta Book Exchange last weekend, lounge at Lake Sinclair, and more. But not too much more, because I want to have whole non-committed, plan-free days. Bliss.

The summer heat has been brutal, and we had another close call with our AC. Thanks (again, second time this summer, sigh) to Bucky Holland, we are back in the business of staying cool indoors. Apparently we have some sort of major part to replace soon, but for now we are comfy & happy. Seems like our house is in a funky mood lately, making us chase after various repair needs. There is a major overhaul in our future as far as the rotting porches go, thanks to the short-cutting, cheap, DIY previous owners who failed to use pressure-treated lumber. Scumbags. But our plan is to replace the porches and make them even better with an extension off the kitchen, to make our screened-porch much more usable. So it goes, living in a 100+ year old home. We still love it here, and have recently added to our antiques furniture collection after yesterday’s visit to Payne City. We have our eye on another piece already, and just may bring it home in the next few days. Pictures to follow.

Oh yeah…another idea for my week off? Blog more! Stay tuned… : – )

Yesterday held a wonderful little surprise for me. I got home from work a little late that morning, and had some reading to catch up on before bed, so my sleep was short. There was rain in the forecast, set to start just about the time I’d be out & about for my afternoon World Lit class. So I was kinda bummed that I’d slept through all the sunny days while working the weekend, and would be out in the rain instead of sleeping through it.

Went to be at 9:30am & got up at about 12:30, shuffled downstairs for hot tea & oatmeal while barely keeping my eyes open. I put off getting ready by browsing my email, Facebook, Flickr, you name it. Thankfully, something reminded me to check MSC’s website, and I could hardly believe it when I saw that my afternoon class was canceled – hallelujah! I was able to go right back to bed for a couple more hours & listen to the pouring rain on my windowpanes…perfection. While I do hope my prof feels better soon, I could not have had a more wonderful surprise & nap yesterday! Last week before finals…and it’s all good. <3

As finals week creeps up on me, and my work schedule does not play nice, I am scrambling to complete all the assignments that the end of semester presents. Two papers, done. Three finals and one presentation to go, and then I am a free woman! Wheee!

This semester marked my return to college, and it’s been a crazy ride, but a good one. I have never valued my free time so highly, and I have grown as a student. It’s been interesting in Sociology, challenging and fun in World Lit, and a trip back into time in Biology. It’s funny to study pelicans & their ecosystem when you’re proficient in more advanced sciences such as anatomy & physiology. But, I have survived & balanced working full time nightshift with dayshift school. I can’t wait until May! Not only do I want to relax at home and sun bathe by the pool at Mom & Dad’s, but I also look forward to a beach trip with my honey & a weekend in Savannah for a wedding. Almost there!
