My Only Nod to the Super Bowl

This is an email I received from Planned Parenthood, and I think it makes some very valid points that are often overlooked when people think of what the organization stands for. Read on:
By now you’ve most likely heard all about it — the anti-choice group Focus on the Family is spending millions to run an [...]

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today is my mother’s birthday – I hope it’s a wonderful, happy day because she deserves it! We celebrated last night with a lovely dinner of her choice, followed by good conversation & cheer over coffee at ABC. Great night with great people.
I love you, Mom – thanks for always being my #1 fan! <3

Studying Fireside

Studying Fireside

Today was a very productive day – after waking early for a dental appointment, I resisted returning straight to bed and broke out the books instead. I made some major study progress with biology, and feel better about my upcoming test. I have a sociology test on the same day, but at least there is [...]

Pressure Cookers & Julia Child

A few days ago Jerry sent me a link to an article in the New York Times that raved about the wonders of pressure cookers. I read the sample recipe, and had to admit that it did sound like a valuable kitchen gadget. We looked at a few reviews online, and last night we dashed [...]

Gym, Sweet Gym

Gym, Sweet Gym

This is where I spend my afternoons on campus. Twice a week I go to the Macon State College Wellness Center between classes, and I work out as hard as I can – I burn fat, I release energy, and I cut stress. I sweat…I mean glisten. I gladly enter my hard-earned data on DailyMile [...]

Schoolgirl Again

Schoolgirl Again

As previously noted, 2010 is a big year for me – especially because it brings me back to the classroom! I took the plunge and registered to return to MSC in pursuit of my BSN. This semester I am taking Sociology & Biology, and relearning to balance school with working full-time. It’s been a challenge [...]

Back to Basics

Back to Basics

Jerry & I have renewed our commitment to eating well, and are currently 4 days into being 100% vegan and cooking healthy meals at home. We’re McDougall-ing, and I think it’s safe to say we are both already feeling a spring in our step. I sleep better at night, and we’re both jazzed about getting [...]

Resolutions, You Ask?

Resolutions, You Ask?

Well, it’s nearly impossible not to make a goal or two when a new year rolls around. This year I am making no lofty long lists, nor am I being one of the people who say they don’t make resolutions. But, I am only making 3. And they are 3 good ones.
1. Be on time! [...]

Ringing in 2010

Ringing in 2010

Poor Jerry was out of town for a short & unplanned trip, so we couldn’t bring in the new year together. Still, I managed to have fun & ring it in with style! My brother & I went Downtown for dinner at a local pizzeria (not good.), coffee & dessert at Dolce Vita (awesome!!!), champagne [...]

Goodbye, 2009.

Goodbye, 2009.

As always, it’s hard to believe another whole year has come & gone. Everyone seems to say that with each new year, but it’s true! Are there people out there who anxiously await the end of a year, and feel as if every square on the calendar was long & drawn out? I suppose there [...]
